On March 10th 1986 the Chief Scout, Michael Walsh, officially opened the new Far Forest Scout and Guide H.Q.
Before the H.Q. was built the groups had met in local village halls and even in each other’s homes.
TRACTION ENGINE AT CELEBRATION
The funds for the H.Q. were raised at "Harry's Steam Rallies" which were held at Keen's sawmills at Callow Hill between 1982 and 1991.
As a reminder of these events Chris Bayley, an engineer from Highley, "steamed up" a 1/3rd scale Durham and North Yorks traction engine.
Since building it in 1993, Chris has taken the engine to over 100 steam rallies and events.
Video film of the opening ceremony and the Harry Bray steam rallies were shown throughout the afternoon and a commemorative plaque was presented to Harry Bray as a thank you for everything that has been possible since.
